The last few weeks of September 2005 Ben and Rebecca flew to Germany with our good friends Matt and Audrey O'Brien to stay with Rebecca's parents. We'll let the photos tell most of the story!

Ummmm.... I need this sign in my yard....

Euro-Trash ! ! !  Bec and Ben on a ferris wheel in Stuttgart

Audrey enjoys Oktoberfest, Matt wonders if she'll leave any for him.

Ben uses his German language and cross-cultural sensitivity skills to negotiate a trade. Matt wanted to get this drunk guy's soccer team shirt to take home (it had the number 1 on the back!). Drunk Germany guy said it was the only one he had and couldn't trade it away. Besides, look at the beer he spilled all over it while loudly singing lusty German drinking songs .... Drunk German guy was nice anyways.

This wine barrel in Heidelberg Schloss (castle) holds 58,124 gallons. Ben and Matt ponder this amazing quantity.

This is how we drove to France with Bec's parents!

There is nothing more relaxing (or German) than a brisk 2-3 mile walk in the Black Forest followed by a glass of good German beer or sparkling wine with old friends......*sigh*...good memories.

Now before you begin to be too jealous... look at this TERRIBLE view we had from our accommodations in Garmisch, Germany.... Yes, we were at the foot of the Alpenspitze and the Zugspitze mountains. It's a wonder anyone could convince Ben to leave!

Rebecca's voice caught the ear of the entertainer at a restaurant in Garmisch. He asked her to come up and sing with him...so she did! I believe this is the second verse of "You Are My Sunshine."
